Hey, how’s it going?
Welcome to the new website! But why, I don’t hear you ask.
I’ve been encouraged by my wife to write more about our life with the little one and some of the trials we have each day with him. With my love of writing she said I should write a book from the point of view from a dad because there isn’t much out there.
However, while I enjoy writing, sometimes it can be a bit all consuming and time consuming, so over the last couple of weeks I’ve had a think about what might fit best within our life and the amount of time I’ve got to contribute to another new project.
For now, I’ve settle on
- I’ve overhauled the website, including moving it to WordPress to give it a bit more functionality and now it has a new page Okayest Dad Club. There’s plenty of different things I can post about which go in a lot of different directions so I wanted a one stop place for it.
- I’ve set up some additional social media for the Okayest Dad Club. I’ve done this so I can post some short form videos and some peaks into our life and to be honest, I rarely post to my current social media so it’s not like I’ll be running 2 accounts.
I’ve also taken some time on considering how much I want to share to the world. It can be confronting putting your life out there. I’m under no illusion that I’ve a very (very) small fish in the internet pond but with the screaming and shouting and cancel culture it doesn’t take much for a pile on.
I also want to use the website more to share news and updates on my current WIP and I want to really give it a good crack with 2 specific WIP that I’ve got going at the moment.
- My novel which has been set aside for a while now which I want to get back into.
- My collection of short stories which I’ve previously submitted to some competitions but didn’t get included. Some of these stories I really enjoyed writing and I don’t want them just collecting the figurative dust on my digital bookshelf.
I do have a 3rd idea which I started fleshing out but it’s not for a book but a fictional (horror/comedy) podcast idea, but I have to finish something and I think I got enough right now to try and close out.
Anyway, stand by for some opinions (which are my own) and a look inside the life of a dad who’s raising rare.
